BUBBLE BUTT: How Pilates can help tone your behind

Why Pilates will tone your Behind

Ever wondered how the Victoria Secret Angels acquire their phenomenal physique. The secret is simple: Pilates.

Just look at Iza Gouletโ€™s Instagram account and you will see countless photos of her on a reformer or Cadillac machine performing another impressive โ€˜advancedโ€™ Pilates move.

Other angels who enjoy a regular Pilates session include Miranda Kerr, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls & Devon Windsor just to name a few.

I am not one for comparing yourself to a model as everyone should be striving to feel comfortable in their own skin. I can however, appreciate that Victoria Secret Models are different from your average runway model. They are fit, healthy, and in some cases curvy women. They have their own training regimes which include strength training, boxing, cardio and plenty of Pilates and Yoga. If you can take one thing from watching a Victoria Secret show it is that these women work hard and train hard to look the way they do.

Why Pilates?

Pilates is a great way to tone the entire body, improve posture, mobility and complete body functionality, with a huge focus on the glutes and abs.

The glutes play an important role in stabilising the whole body. There are 3 glute muscles; Glute Minimus, Glute Medius, Glute Maximus. All 3 Glute muscles should work together to provide power and stability and assist in good posture. However, sitting at a desk all day and lazy postural habits can cause the glutes to become lazy and weak which can result in low back pain, knee, hip, ankle or foot issues โ€“ just to name a few.

Attend any Pilates class and expect to perform a variety of glute exercises, that will have you struggling to sit down on the toilet two days later. This no laughing matter. Paired with a variety of abdominal exercises, your ability to laugh could also be severely compromised! However, the results are undeniable. Pilates is without a doubt one of the most effective ways to strengthen your glutes and abs! In a few weeks, you will be well on your way to having tighter buns and a toned stomach.

โ€œIn 10 sessions you will feel a difference, in 20 sessions you will see a difference, in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.โ€
โ€“ Joseph Pilates

Itโ€™s good enough for the Victoria Secret Runway, then itโ€™s worth a shot donโ€™t you think? Not only will Pilates tone your entire body, it will also leave you feeling energised and uplifted.

Give it a try today and I promise you, you will not be disappointed!
